Where catchments meet the coast
KESAB Patawalonga & Torrens Waterwatch works with the community that lives in the following three catchments - the Torrens , Patawalonga and Port River and Environs. It is important to recognise that the major waterways in these three catchments all flow towards our coastline.
This map shows how the three catchments meet the sea.

The most obvious connection between catchments and the coast is where rivers meet the sea. However, there is another connection – stormwater drains. Within our catchment area there are approximately 108 stormwater outlets along the coastline, such as the one below
Henley Beach stormwater outlet.

When it comes to our coastline, the health of the catchment is very important. A degraded or polluted catchment will be a source of pollution for the coast. This pollution can hurt or kill wildlife, destroy coastal ecosystems and affect our recreation and commercial activities.
